01 — Listing Standards
What We Accept
After Aisle is a vetted, editorial marketplace. Every listing is reviewed by our team before it goes live. We only accept items that meet our condition and aesthetic standards.
Accepted Item Categories

- Candle holders, candlesticks, and lanterns
- Table linens, runners, and overlays
- Centerpiece vessels, urns, and floral stands
- Custom signage frames and easels
- Premium tabletop (chargers, glassware, flatware)

Listing Details — Required Fields
Every listing must include accurate packaged dimensions and weight before submission. This is how shipping costs are calculated automatically for buyers at checkout — missing or inaccurate measurements will generate incorrect shipping estimates, which creates a poor buyer experience and potential disputes.
- Packaged dimensions — height, width, and depth in inches of the item as it will be shipped, including the box. If you haven't packaged it yet, estimate by adding approximately 2 inches to each dimension of the item to account for the box and padding.
- Packaged weight — total weight in pounds of the item plus anticipated packaging materials. Add approximately 2–3 lbs to account for bubble wrap, box, and packing materials. When in doubt, round up — underestimating weight creates shipping cost gaps that fall on you as the seller.
If your item is best suited for local pickup — arch frames and large structures in particular, or if you don't want to deal with shipping — note this in your listing description. Local pickup eliminates shipping costs for the buyer entirely.
02 — Listing Photography
Photo Requirements
Great photography is the single most important factor in selling your items. After Aisle is an editorial marketplace — your photos should reflect that.
Required Shots (minimum 5 photos per listing)
- Full item shot — entire piece visible, neutral or lifestyle background
- Detail shot — close-up of texture, material, or craftsmanship
- Any wear or imperfection — required if condition is Good; strongly recommended for Excellent
- Professional wedding photo — at least one image of the item styled and in use at your actual wedding, taken by your wedding photographer
- Timestamped photo — a recent photo of the item with a visible timestamp or screenshot showing the date taken, so buyers can verify current condition
Photography Tips
- Shoot in natural light — avoid harsh flash or yellow indoor lighting
- Use a clean, neutral background (white wall, cream linen, marble surface)
- Shoot on a high-resolution phone camera — portrait mode adds polish
- Do not use heavy filters — buyers need accurate color representation
03 — Packaging Standards
How to Pack Your Items
Sellers are responsible for all packaging. Items that arrive damaged due to poor packaging are the seller's liability. Follow these standards to protect yourself and your buyer.
General Rules
- All items must be wrapped in bubble wrap or equivalent cushioning material
- Use a box with at least 2 inches of padding on all sides
- Fragile items (glassware, candle holders, ceramic vessels) must be double-boxed
- Multiple items in one order must be individually wrapped before being placed together
- Seal all boxes with packing tape on all seams — not just the top flap
By Item Type
Arch Frames & Large Structures
Disassemble completely. Wrap each component individually in bubble wrap. Use a heavy-duty double-walled box or PVC pipe carriers. Include all hardware and assembly instructions if available. Note: Due to their size and fragility, arch frames and large structures are often best sold as local pickup. We encourage sellers to consider this option when listing.
Candle Holders & Glass Items
Wrap each piece in a minimum of 3 layers of bubble wrap. Double-box with packing peanuts or foam fill between boxes. Mark the outer box "FRAGILE" on all sides.
Linens & Fabric Items
Fold neatly and place in a sealed plastic bag before boxing. This protects against moisture during transit. No need for bubble wrap — focus on keeping clean and dry.
Tabletop (Chargers, Glassware, Flatware)
Wrap each piece individually. Stack plates with cardboard dividers. Use cell kits (divided boxes) for glassware when possible. Double-box.
Signage Frames & Easels
Disassemble if possible. Wrap corners and edges with extra bubble wrap — these are the most vulnerable points. Use a flat box sized to the frame; avoid rolling or forcing into undersized packaging.
Pro tip: Take a photo of your packed item before sealing the box. This protects you in any damage dispute — proof that the item was properly packaged at the time of shipment.
04 — Shipping Requirements
Shipping Your Items
Carrier Recommendations
- UPS or FedEx — strongly recommended for fragile and large items; better handling than USPS for delicate decor
- USPS Priority Mail — acceptable for small, non-fragile items (linens, accessories)
- Freight — required for very large structures (full arch frames over 6ft, large furniture-style pieces)
Shipping Timeline
- All orders must be shipped within 5 business days of a confirmed sale
- Tracking information must be uploaded to the platform within 24 hours of shipping
- Orders not shipped within 5 days may be cancelled and refunded to the buyer
Shipping Insurance
- Shipping insurance is required for all items over $200
- For items under $200, insurance is strongly recommended but not mandatory
- In the event of carrier damage on an insured item, After Aisle will assist with the claim process
- Uninsured items damaged in transit are the seller's financial responsibility
Tracked shipping only. Orders shipped without tracking are not covered by After Aisle seller protection. Always ship with a method that provides end-to-end tracking.
05 — Payment & Escrow Policy
How You Get Paid
After Aisle uses a 48-hour buyer inspection window to protect both parties. Here's exactly how it works:
Item sells
Buyer's payment is collected and held in escrow by After Aisle.
You ship within 5 business days
Upload tracking to the platform within 24 hours of shipping.
Buyer receives the item
The 48-hour inspection window begins at the time of confirmed delivery.
No dispute filed within 48 hours
Funds are automatically released from escrow to your account. Sale is considered final.
Dispute filed within 48 hours
After Aisle mediates. Buyer must provide photos of the item and packaging. Resolution within 3 business days.
Commission
After Aisle takes a 20% commission on each completed sale. You keep 80% of your listing price.
Founding sellers (first 25) pay zero commission, forever — you keep 100% of every sale.
06 — Disputes & Damage
If Something Goes Wrong
Buyer Opens a Dispute
If a buyer files a dispute within the 48-hour window, After Aisle will:
- Request photos from the buyer of the item and all packaging materials
- Contact you for your account of how the item was packed and shipped
- Review all evidence and issue a decision within 3 business days
Outcome Scenarios
Item not as described
If the item significantly differs from the listing (wrong item, undisclosed damage, wrong condition tier), the buyer receives a full refund. This amount is deducted from your payout. The buyer returns the item at your expense.
Damage due to poor packaging
If photos indicate inadequate packaging caused the damage, the seller is responsible for a partial or full refund at After Aisle's discretion.
Carrier damage (insured item)
After Aisle will assist both parties in filing a carrier insurance claim. Funds remain in escrow during the claims process.
Carrier damage (uninsured item)
Seller bears financial responsibility. This is why insurance is required on items over $200.
Dispute not resolved in seller's favor (repeat)
Two unresolved disputes within 90 days will result in a review of your seller account. Three may result in removal from the platform.
Our goal is always a fair resolution. After Aisle mediates every dispute personally — you will always speak to a real person, not a bot. Reach out to afteraisle@gmail.com at any time.
